Greetings From Charleston (October 25, 2008 4:30:18 AM)

Good morning everyone!

Well, we finally made it, we are here! I still have to pinch myself occasionally to remind myself this is really happening. We arrived here Friday night. Greg is so tired of driving! We made a lot of miles. Yesterday morning we had to do a few repairs to the truck, we picked up a couple of universal joints and had an express garage install them in an hour. Now all the bad noises are gone and Greg is smiling again. We then drove to the Cooper River Marina, talked to them there, and signed up to rent a transient slip for a month. They are located in the navy reserve, so it is a VERY secure site, to say the least. Next we drove to Wondo, to the Charleston Boat Yard, where we not only saw, but got on our boat! It is everything we dreamed it would be! The boys love their "room" and tried out the bunks. I checked out all the nooks and crannies in the galley, I am thrilled with everything. Also our bedroom is great, so much storage, they make such good use of space in these boats, it is amazing.

Tomorrow we are going to get some cleaning supplies so I can wipe out all the cupboards and give everything a good cleaning. Not that it is very dirty by any means, its just what you do (or should I say what clean freaks like myself do?) when you move into a new place. Bev and Tamara I know you understand : ) Plus there is a lot of stuff everywhere that needs to get tidied up. Did I mention it was pouring rain here yesterday and we got soaked to our asses? Of course our rain gear is packed away in the trailer, and its a long walk to the boat. We were drenched to our skivvies, to say the least. It has stopped raining now, and hopefully will stay that way for today. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and near 80.

This morning we are meeting David Blair, the guy we bought the boat from, and his wife and son, at the boat. He is going to show us how all the systems work. Then on Monday he is going to help us drive the boat to our new slip. Hopefully we can get moved in Monday or Tuesday. We are staying at a Days Inn in Mount Pleasant, an area of Charleston. I am trying to get the lay of the land, and to know the main roads and bridges. There are lots of bridges and they are huge!

So I had better get going, will email again in a day or two to keep you updated.

Lots of love from the Dutch Dreamers
