Hello from Bloomington Illinois!‏ (October 20, 2008 5:29:09 AM)

Good morning everyone!

We have finally embarked on our adventure of a lifetime! We left the Van Wyck farm Saturday morning and made it through the US border without any problems. The customs officer was more interested in seeing our pictures of the boat and hearing about our adventure! We stayed the night in a small city about an hour past Minneapolis called Eau Claire, in Wisconsin. Yesterday we drove to Bloomington, Illinois, and spent the night at a Best Western right off the interstate, with a heated pool and sauna, it sure felt good and the boys did a lot of swimming. We are off again this morning, and will spend the night somewhere in Kentucky. We are going to deviate off our original CAA planned route to visit the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchberg, Tennesee, so we should arrive there sometime tomorrow. Greg really wants to see the distillery (and maybe do some tasting), and we figure we might never get this way again, so why not?

We are making good time travelling, the interstates are great, with only a little construction and no real delays. We are having a blast! Yesterday we stopped at a gas station, and Dylan and Brett spied some beef jerky that was in a small tin like chewing tobacco. They are chewing their "chaw" and talking like "good ole boys"... it's hilarious. It's been a beautiful drive so far, lots of rolling hills and lots and lots of corn! We will email again in a day or two.

Lots of love,
Greg, Carol, Brett and Dylan
