Hi all:
We had a very positive meeting with Brett's surgeon yesterday. The doctor at Harvard in Boston confirmed that Brett has Osteomylitis, a bone infection, not a tumour. The infection ate a hole in the top of his femur. Brett has been on strong antibiotics and motrin for about two weeks with marvelous results. He is walking with a slight limp, and doesn't even need his cane anymore. He has virtually no pain. He needs to stay on the antibiotics for another four weeks. His xray yesterday showed that the hole in the bone is already starting to heal. So, Brett will not need another surgery. This is all such marvelous news, we are so relieved!
Given that Brett is feeling so good, we are all driving out of Yellowknife (instead of Brett and I flying as was our previous plan) and will be leaving at 6:00 tomorrow (Thursday) morning. We are so excited to finally begin our adventure. We should arrive in Manitoba on Saturday some time, and will be staying at Greg's parents farm, for about three weeks or so, and then head off to Charleston.
Will let you know when we have arrived safe and sound.
Lots of love from the Dutch Dreamers
XOXO
