Hello all:
We arrived in Grenada late last week. We cleared customs with ease, we all had to go, as they get you to fill out a health questionnaire, with the swine flu scare. We had to give the police our guns, but got a receipt, and upon leaving Grenada, will get them back. We picked up a new wifi antennae, and now have a good connection on the boat. We are at Port Louis Marina, in St. Georges. They have a summer special going on here, so we will likely stay here for the rest of the week. It is brand new, a beautiful place, lovely grounds and a great pool, which the kids have been taking full advantage of. When we pulled into the lagoon here, we noticed a tiny sailboat at the docks, dwarfed by a huge mega yacht. We laughed because it looked so cute. Upon closer inspection, we could see the Ivory Soap Bar, which is what we call OPUS’ dinghy. We were all pretty tickled to realize our friends were at the dock. There was space near them, so we pulled in and tied up, and have been having a blast with them ever since!
We managed to catch the tail end of Carnival, only because their parade on Tuesday was rained out. Fortunately for us, they rescheduled it for Saturday. We all walked into town, full of locals and tourists, everyone gyrating to the beat of the music coming from huge speakers on the backs of trucks scattered throughout the street. We found a grassy spot and sat down to take it all in. The costumes were incredible, all the colours of the rainbow, bedecked with feathers, wings and elaborate headpieces. The boys’ eyes bugged out at some of the scantily clad girls shaking their booties, what an experience for them! I have attached some pictures for you, hope you enjoy them.
The mega yacht at the dock, Princess Claudia, is still here. The Captain and his wife and two crew are really nice. The owner is supposed to be coming any day now. As I am typing, I look over at the crew, who are again washing this immaculate and spotless boat. Greg and Dylan got a quick tour of the engine room, two huge engines and electronics everywhere. It is an eight million dollar boat. Just down the dock from them bobs OPUS, I am sure their entire 25 foot boat would easily fit into the salon of Princess Claudia. Across the dock sits our worse for wear, but much loved Dutch Dreamer. She’s not a beauty, but she’s our home, and we feel more comfortable on her every day.
We are going to be at the south end of Grenada for a while, and have an address to send mail by Fed Ex, if anyone wants to send us Tim Horton’s coffee (just kidding... well maybe not):

We are going to be ordering parts for the water maker and the wash machine. Other than that, we plan on doing general maintenance on the boat. We are going to take advantage of having plenty of fresh water here at the dock to give our boat a much needed scrub down.
It looks like Hurricane Bill is now a Category 4, but well north of us, and heading northwest. It may even strengthen more, unfortunately it looks like the US and part of the Canadian east coast will get hit hard. Doug and Lois, better batten down the hatches : ( Just to let you folks know that if a hurricane ever does come our way, we would likely head south to Trinidad, a day trip away.
Love and miss you all!
The Dutch Dreamers
